Disposable Vape Recycling - Shops have a responsibility
The Environmental Impact of Disposable Vapes The rise of disposable vapes has been meteoric, with a staggering five million units discarded weekly in the UK alone, marking a fourfold increase in just a year, according to research by Material Focus. Alarming as this figure is, even more concerning is the fact that only 17% of vapers choose to recycle their disposable vapes properly. These seemingly harmless devices, designed for convenience and a quick nicotine fix, pose a significant threat to our environment. Vape recycling should be at forefront of every vape store owners mind. Disposable vapes, primarily made of cheap plastic, are culprits in causing fires in waste treatment facilities and bin lorries when not disposed of correctly. The environmental toll is not only visual, with these devices cluttering roadsides and bins, but it extends to the potential dangers they pose to our communities. Material Focus further emphasizes that disposable vapes contain valuable materials like copper wires and lithium batteries. Astonishingly, the disposable vapes discarded annually contain enough lithium to power batteries for 5,000 electric cars. The environmental implications of this waste are glaring, making it imperative for the vaping industry to step up and address this growing crisis. Vape

Vaping to get tobacco style packaging restrictions?
Introduction The packaging of tobacco products has been subject to stringent regulations in the United Kingdom for many years. These restrictions aim to discourage smoking and promote public health by reducing the appeal of tobacco products. In recent years, vaping products have gained popularity as an alternative to traditional tobacco. However, their packaging regulations are not as comprehensive. However, this may change in the future. In this blog post, we will explore the existing packaging restrictions for tobacco products in the UK. Also, how they could be applied to vaping products once the government’s consultation on vaping is concluded. Packaging Restrictions for Tobacco Products In the United Kingdom, packaging regulations for tobacco products have evolved over time to minimize their attractiveness. Especially to young people. The restrictions on tobacco packaging include the following elements: Standardized Packaging: Since May 2016, all tobacco products must be sold in standardized packaging, often referred to as “plain packaging.” The packaging must be a standardized dark brown colour. Feature prominent graphic health warnings, such as images of diseased organs and dire health consequences of smoking. This approach aims to eliminate the use of attractive branding and logos by tobacco companies. Large Health Warnings: The packaging
The UK Governments Smoking and Vaping Consultation is now love!
UK Smoking and Vaping consultation is now LIVE! The link below will take you to the vaping consultation submission form: https://consultations.dhsc.gov.uk/en/65201ed1f3410a69990d3081 How has your store been affected and how could it be affected if all of the proposals come in to play? Here are the proposals being consulted: restricting vape flavours regulating vape packaging and product presentation regulating point of sale displays restricting the supply and sale of disposable vapes exploring further restrictions for non-nicotine vapes and other nicotine consumer products such as nicotine pouches action on the affordability of vapes, exploring a new duty on vapes As an industry we should stand up and speak about vaping.   Disposable Devices Firstly, disposable vapes are the greatest threat to our sector. Which is why this consultation was originally launched in the first place. Here are some of our thoughts. (A) For the retention and inspection of imported products, all imported disposable devices must pass through a customs-controlled warehouse / bonded warehouse. (B) Single-use disposable vapes should be subject to an excise charge to discourage their purchase. This tax should be greater than the originally proposed £4 levy. Which was intended to make disposables “the same price as reusable vapes”. Instead,
